What THIS blog is for is the discussion of science fiction, fantasy and horror--whether from the classic period, the Golden Age, and the New Age (roughly after Malzberg's BEYOND APOLLO was published, and even *shudder* cyberpunk.
We'll get into genre history, "lost" titles and stories, reviews (new and old), futuristic philosophy, and probably unashamed plugs for certain publishers and authors.
Here's a topic for you: Is the Robert A. Heinlein posthumous collaboration with Spider Robinson (VARIABLE STAR) worth the trouble to read?
Another topic: Is it possible to get a truly good SF film made? I had hopes, back when the SciFi Channel started, that it might be--but they're all tending toward trash (especially those produced by William Shatner). Even the crap they promulgate as science on such channels as the History Channel, etc. are ridiculous! (In one recent show, they had a rather questionable scientist say that the Bermuda Triangle was caused by a "simple wormhole". What the hell is simple about a wormhole?
